About Endowments

What is an Endowment?

Endowments provide perpetual support for the university and its students, faculty and programs. Your gift is invested into a pooled fund, and the original gift amount is protected while distributions support the endowment’s purpose. Investment earnings above distribution help the endowment value grow over time, to keep pace with inflation and maintain your endowment’s spending power.

There are university endowment opportunities for every interest and level of funding. From professorships to undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships, to deans’ and president’s excellence funds, your legacy can take almost any form.

About the Legacy Project

Behind every endowment is a story. Alumni give back to a new generation of students at the university they love, families strive to make a difference in their community, and faculty and students are able to achieve their goals because of the generosity of others. Each endowment leaves its own lasting legacy at UT Austin. The Legacy Project shares these stories — your stories.

A single endowment touches the lives of many. The Legacy Project celebrates and honors the incredible history of endowed giving at UT Austin, written by donors and friends like you.
