Ada Mae and her husband, George, married in 1942 and moved to Austin at the end of World War II. George attended UT Austin, and both he and Ada Mae had a great love for the university. George graduated in 1948 with a B.A. in Geology.

The Marshalls were married for 48 years, until George’s death in 1991. In 1992, Ada Mae established the George W. Marshall, Jr. Memorial Endowed Presidential Scholarship to assist geoscience students, and now Ken and Denise are delighted to honor Ada Mae’s legacy as well with this scholarship in her name.

Throughout her life, Ada Mae valued learning and building relationships, and she instilled in her three sons a sense of responsibility, confidence, and optimism. She was always eager to assist and encourage others, and through this endowment her spirit will live on.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate computer science students, with a preference for students who have attended the First Bytes summer program administered by the Department of Computer Science.
