McCombs Parents Council Endowed Excellence Fund

The McCombs Parents Council (MPC) was created by Dean Thomas W. Gilligan in 2013, with inaugural members Susan and Brad Beldon, Dawnelle and Lee Doughtie, Bill Kerr, Julie Kraff, Amy and Niel Leibman, Kelli and Chris Mize, Lydia and Randy Rapp, Mary and Ed Taussig, Mimi and Bill Vanderstraaten, and Sarah and Larry West.

The council serves as a platform for parents of enrolled business students to be involved with the McCombs School and to help support the BBA program office’s various initiatives. The organization plays an essential role in supporting undergraduate programs, enhancing the quality of the Texas BBA student experience, and continuing the McCombs School tradition of academic excellence and global leadership. On average, the McCombs Parents Council raises some $150,000 annually to benefit the BBA program office, which impacts more than 4,000 students.

Though started by Dean Thomas Gilligan, the McCombs Parents Council remains a top priority for Dean Jay Hartzell. “I am continually grateful for the support, in both time and treasure, that we receive from our McCombs Parents Council members. The Texas BBA Program directly benefits from their involvement, which is vital to the success of the programs we offer our undergraduate students,” he says.

The MPC focuses primarily on funding and promoting academic support, global experiences, student recruitment, diversity, leadership development, and student organizations. These areas of involvement help create well-developed, worldly, and diverse students who undoubtedly will positively affect the future of business and business education.

The McCombs Parents Council Endowed Excellence Fund was established by the Board of Regents at The University of Texas System in 2015 due to the generous support of its members. Its endowment status guarantees funding for the BBA program office in perpetuity and ensures a lasting legacy for the invaluable dedication of the McCombs Parents Council. Through its members’ generosity, the McCombs Parents Council exemplifies The University of Texas slogan, “What starts here changes the world.”
