McPeake-Shuler Family Endowed Presidential Scholarship
Ben and Linda Shuler
The McPeake-Shuler Family Endowed Presidential Scholarship was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on March 7, 2012, to benefit The University of Texas Cockrell School of Engineering. Gift funds were provided by McPeake Family Foundation.
Neither the McPeake nor the Shuler families are directly related to The University of Texas at Austin, and the original funding for this scholarship comes from the Fred W. and Marion B. McPeake Family Foundation.
The McPeake Family Foundation was founded by Fred McPeake. Fred, born in 1920, graduated from the University of Tennessee Law School. He was a veteran of World War II and lived with his wife, Marion, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
One of the directors of the McPeake Shuler Foundation, David Shuler, lives in Austin. He works as a computer engineer for IBM and recruits students from The University of Texas.
The excellent reputation of the Cockrell School of Engineering influenced the foundation's choice to fund this scholarship. The original donors would be proud to say they had helped students achieve excellence when preparing for careers in Engineering.
