Richard and Marjorie Nelson Endowed Scholarship
Mrs. Marjorie S. Nelson
The Richard and Marjorie Nelson Endowed Scholarship was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on June 23, 1997, for the benefit of the Intercollegiate Athletics. Gift funds were provided by Mrs. Marjorie S. Nelson and Mr. Richard R. Nelson, Jr. of Houston, Texas.
The Nelson’s have a long history of attending The University of Texas at Austin. Marjorie Nelson graduated from the College of Liberal Arts in 1951. Her children, Richard Nelson III and Helen Dale Sumers graduated from the University, along with Marjorie’s daughter-in-law, Tricia Nelson, and her son-in-law, Wyeth Wiedeman.
Richard and Marjorie Nelson gave to the University in the hope that their contribution would help students in need and encourage the education of others.
