Charles H. Spence, Sr. Centennial Professorship in Education

Resources

The Charles H. Spence, Sr. Centennial Professorship in Education was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on December 11, 1981, for the benefit of the College of Education. The endowment honors Mr. Charles H. Spence, Sr. of Raymondville, Texas.

Charles H. Spence, Sr. was a Renaissance man in the truest sense of the term. At various times he was a public school teacher, a Presbyterian minister, a banker, and a business manager in towns across Texas. But foremost he was a devoted family man.

His four children were all graduates of The University of Texas and were firmly imbued with his love of God, family, and purpose. The Spence family, now three generations and counting, numbers 24 University of Texas alumni.
