Ted W. Walters Family Endowed Scholarship in Undergraduate Energy Management

Resources

The Ted W. Walters Family Endowed Scholarship in Undergraduate Energy Management was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on March 13, 2013, to benefit The University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business. Gift funds were provided by TWW Services, Inc.

Ted Walters was born in Jasper, Texas, in 1947 to a family that instilled in him a strong work ethic, a desire to help others, and Christian faith. After graduating from Tyler Junior College, Walters attended The University of Texas at Austin, earning a BBA in 1970. He worked to pay his way through UT, an experience that taught him the value of providing financial assistance to students who need and earn scholarship support.

Walters feels fortunate that he joined the oil and gas industry as an independent landman in 1976. He has been involved in the oil and gas business for nearly 40 years, and is now the owner of Ted W. Walters and Associates LLC, an independent contract law services firm, and is invested in numerous oil wells.

By donating the Ted W. Walters Family Endowed Scholarship in Undergraduate Energy Management, Walters hopes to help more students enter the energy business, one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States. He believes students today are even more serious and goal oriented than he was, and says, “They are capable of achieving great things if they work hard and enjoy what they are doing. I have been blessed to have been engaged in an occupation and industry that I absolutely love.”
