The Wilburn H. Bohne Friends of Alec Scholarship in Engineering was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on November 28, 2011, to benefit The University of Texas Cockrell School of Engineering. Gift funds were provided by Mr. Wilburn H. Bohne. This endowment was established by the estate of Wilburn H. Bohne in 2011. Wilburn Henry Bohne, 79, passed away December 14, 2010. He attended Brenham High School. Mr. Bohne enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1948-1953 at several bases in the United States and overseas in Casablanca, French Morocco. After military service, he attended The University of Texas at Austin, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He worked with engineering firms in Dallas and Houston in the oil and gas industry engaged in seismic exploration and design of oil field related equipment. He retired in 1981 to his home on Lake Livingston, moving back to Brenham in 1993.
