The Robert M. “Jack” Howe Friend of Alec Endowed Scholarship in Engineering was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on July 1, 2011, to benefit The University of Texas Cockrell School of Engineering. Gift funds were provided by Mr. Robert M. Howe.

The Robert M. “Jack” Howe Friend of Alec Endowed Scholarship in Engineering was established in 2011 by Mr. and Mrs. Robert “Bob” M. Howe. A native of Beaumont, Texas, Bob Howe earned his BS in chemical engineering at UT Austin in 1963 and a MBA in 1964. Aubyn Howe earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at UT in 1961. Bob and Aubyn created this scholarship through gifts from the Bob and Aubyn Howe Foundation to recognize Bob’s father, Jack Howe.

Robert M. “Jack” Howe, Sr. passed away June 22, 2003. Born June 30, 1913, to Frank and Ethyl Howe in Lake Charles, LA, Howe was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in electrical engineering and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He worked for Mobil Oil in Beaumont for over 40 years. His wife of 50 years, Virginia MacVeigh Howe predeceased him in death.

Bob Howe joined MAPCO Petroleum Inc., a Fortune 500 company, in 1984, and in 1986, was elected executive vice president and chief operating officer. He was also elected to the company’s Board of Directors. Before joining MAPCO, Bob Howe was with Conoco for 20 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and his MBA from The University of Texas at Austin. Bob and his wife, Aubyn, have two children, Sarah and Chris.
