J. Henry Doscher, Jr. Endowed Scholarships
Established in 1994 by the lawyer, professor, Navy veteran and reserve captain, the J. Henry Doscher, Jr. Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Law provides funding for scholarships to qualified students in the School of Law.
J. Henry Doscher graduated from The University of Texas Law School in 1948, after serving in the US Navy during World War II. Henry followed law school as a briefing attorney for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas, and then became a law professor at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. After retiring, Henry dedicated his time to researching and writing about World War II naval history. He authored the books Little Wolf at Leyte and Subchaser in the South Pacific.
A devoted scholar of history, J. Henry Doscher created a family archive, housed in The University of Texas’ Eugene C. Barker Texas History Collection.
Mr. Doscher also created the Christoph Friederich Doscher Endowed Scholarship and the Charles Paul Schearn Endowed Scholarship to provide funding for students in the Plan II program.

Mr. Doscher died in October, 2008.
