M. K. Hage Endowments

Feb 1, 1982 | Professorships, Scholarships

From M. K. Hage’s children, Patricia Hage Hirsh, Charlotte Hage Nacozy, Robin Suzanne Hage, and Jennifer Hage Bond:

“M. K. Hage was our father, and his passing in December of 2007 was a time of profound sadness and reflection for us. He lived a life well-spent in the benefit of others. He was an amazing man. During a long and eventful life, he transitioned from a son and young veteran of World War II to a University of Texas at Austin graduate, public school teacher, and visionary administrator. As a real estate investor he became a pioneer in the field of medical property development.

From our earliest years, Dad shared his love of learning and the deep pride he had of the University. His fondest memories were of the days he spent completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees in education and business administration. Dad knew that his friendships with fellow students and relationships with favorite professors remained a source of inspiration, influence, and happiness for him always.

Our father was a philanthropist and believed in giving back to those he loved. In doing so at the University, he created endowments in support of education and the arts. We’ve recently received letters from numerous recipients of Dad’s endowments, and their words have touched us deeply. We are most grateful to Karl Miller, Assistant Dean of Development of the College of Education, and to Susan Adair, Assistant Director of Benefactor Reporting in the University Development Office. Because of their thoughtfulness we truly understand the depth of Dad’s relationship with the University he so treasured.”

Updated June 2019: Mr. Hage passed away in December, 2007.
