Adam Conrad Grote Memorial Scholarship in Architecture

Feb 16, 2016 | Scholarships

The Adam Conrad Grote Memorial Scholarship in Architecture was established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System on February 16, 2016, to benefit the School of Architecture. Gift funds were provided by Mr. Daniel E. Grote.

Adam Grote was in his senior year as an architecture student at UT when he died in an accident in 2011. His parents and friends chose to remember him by creating a legacy scholarship at the Forty Acres — a fitting tribute to someone a friend called “a Longhorn fan through-and-through.” Although he was not a native Texan, he’d made a new home in Austin.

Adam was described as someone who “never took for granted the importance of fun and friends,” which included enjoying a good prank now and then. He was a member of the UT Undergraduate Architecture Student Council and gave his time to planning events that would become cherished college memories: the Beaux Arts Ball, Longhorn Halloween, and Parents Weekend. He would have been proud to provide a talented student with an opportunity for a UT education.
